The Inspector General of Police, KAYODE EGBETOKUN, has announced that 35,000 officers, along with an additional 8,000 personnel from sister agencies, will be deployed to provide security during the Edo governorship election on September 21, 2024.
Speaking at a stakeholders meeting organized by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Benin, EGBETOKUN assured the public that the banned Edo State Security Network will not be involved in the election.
He also noted that security personnel would be stationed at the waterways, as well as at the entry and exit points of the state, to ensure comprehensive safety measures.
The Inspector General urged voters, party agents, and other stakeholders to maintain peaceful conduct throughout the election.
