As the 8th National Youth Games in Asaba nears, Minister of Sports Development Senator John Owan Enoh has urged states to bring their top young athletes to the event. The Games Village opened on September 9, with the opening ceremony set for September 11 at Stephen Keshi Stadium.
Senator Enoh emphasized that the Games offer a vital opportunity for states to showcase and develop emerging talent, essential for the future of Nigerian sports. He stressed the importance of preparing young athletes to follow in the footsteps of current stars like Amusan and Oborodudu.
Scheduled from September 9 to 19, the event will feature around 5,000 athletes across various sports. A Technical Committee will oversee the event to ensure fairness and prevent any malpractice. Senator Enoh noted that the Youth Games are not just about medals but about nurturing future Olympians and world champions. With all preparations complete, anticipation is high for a successful edition of the Games.
