INEC chairman Yakubu arrives Edo state ahead of Governorship elections


The chairman of the independent national electoral commission, prof. MAHMOOD YAKUBU, has arrived in Benin city, as part of events lined up for the edo state governorship election slated for September 21.

 

The Edo state inec head of voter’s education and publicity, TIMIDI WARIOWEI, disclosed that YAKUBU will witness a mock accreditation in three locations, assess ineclocal government offices, and participate in an inter-agency consultative committee on election security. He will also witness the signing of the peace accord by political parties.

 

The statement added that the mock accreditation will take place at western boyshigh school and idia college. YAKUBU is also set to visit the palace of the oba of benin.

 

The NLC has reaffirmed its commitment to defending workers’ rights and opposing oppression, urging the government to reverse its “dangerous trend” and implement the new National Minimum Wage.
