The 2024/2025 Nigeria Premier Football League (NFL) season commenced with notable performances from Enyimba International, Remo Stars, and Niger Tornadoes, who all secured impressive away victories on Sunday.
At the Dan Ayiam Stadium in Owerri, Enyimba International of Aba defeated Heartland 3-1. Remo Stars also enjoyed a strong showing, overcoming Abia Warriors 2-0 in Umuahia.
In Ilorin, Niger Tornadoes of Minna edged out Kwara United 2-1, while Sunshine Stars of Akure triumphed 3-0 over Bayelsa United at their temporary home, Dipo Dina Stadium in Ijebu-Ode.
Kano Pillars also recorded a 3-0 win against debutants Ikorodu City from Lagos. Plateau United secured a narrow 1-0 victory over Katsina United at the Jos Township Stadium.
Bendel Insurance and Rivers United played to a goalless draw in Benin City, as did Enugu Rangers and El-Kanemi Warriors in their opening fixture. Similarly, Nasarawa United and Shooting Stars of Ibadan ended their match with a 1-1 draw.
