Nigeria’s Folashade Oluwafemiayo has shattered her own world record in the women’s over 86kg Para-Powerlifting category, becoming the first para-athlete ever to lift 166kg. Oluwafemiayo, who captains Team Nigeria, initially set the record with a 167kg lift at the Games. She was followed by China’s Deng Xuemei, who took silver with a 155kg lift, and Egypt’s Nadia Ali, who earned bronze with a 145kg lift.
This achievement comes on the heels of the Super Eagles' recent 3-0 victory over Benin Republic in an AFCON qualifier at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium in Uyo. Additionally, Nigeria's U20 Women’s World Cup team advanced to the Round of 16 with goals from Amina Bello, Chiamaka Okwuchukwu, Flourish Sabastine, and substitute Joy Igbokwe in a match against Venezuela in Cali.

In other notable performances, Flora Ugwunwa secured a silver medal in the Women’s Javelin F54 category with a throw of 19.26 meters, while Bose Omolayo lifted 145kg in the Women’s 79kg Para-Powerlifting category to win silver. Isau Ogunkunle earned a bronze medal in the Men’s Singles Class 4 Para Table Tennis event, marking the first individual medal for Nigeria in Para Table Tennis since the Sydney 2000 Games.
