The Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) has ruled that Beyond Limits Football Academy will not be part of the 2024/2025 season due to a conflict of interest.
The issue stems from the shared ownership between Beyond Limits Football Academy and Remo Stars, an existing NPFL team, which violates Rule B11.4 of the NPFL Framework and Rules.
Consequently, Beyond Limits Football Academy's slot has been forfeited and granted to Heartland FC. This move adheres to Rule A5.2, which outlines the eligibility criteria for club participation. Heartland FC, which met the NPFL board's standards, was the only relegated team to show interest in the vacant position. It is important to note that the NPFL did not engage in any slot-buying transactions, which are strictly prohibited by league regulations.
The NPFL is committed to maintaining fairness and competitiveness in the league. Although the league's rules may not cover every possible situation, the board has used its discretion, as allowed by the governing documents, to make decisions that benefit the league and its stakeholders. The NPFL remains dedicated to upholding the highest standards of professionalism and ensuring that all actions reflect a commitment to fairness and integrity in the competition.
