The Lagos Government has reiterated its commitment to actively fostering the growth of youth tennis talent by providing opportunities and resources to develop young players, aiming to enhance their skills and support their progression in the sport.
The Chief Executive Officer of Lagos State Lottery and Gaming Authority, BASHIR AARE, gave this assurance during the 3rd edition of the Sanwo-Olu Junior Tennis Tournament held recently at the Lagos Lawn Tennis Club, Onikan, Lagos State.
AARE explained that the event was initiated in line with the Lagos State Governor’s focus on promoting entertainment and sports, noting that many young people struggle in tennis due to the lack of tournaments where they can compete.
He added that the tournament would also foster a competitive spirit among the participants.
Also speaking at the occasion, professional tennis player and certified International Tennis Federation coach, PETER OSAGIE, said the idea behind the tournament is to engage young boys and girls to identify themselves with the game of tennis.
