Lagos task force dislodges petrol black marketers, impounds 2,000 litres

And the Operatives of the Lagos State Task Force on Environment, has arrested black market sellers of petroleum products on the Oshodi-Apapa highway and seized over 2,000 litres of petroleum products.

Chairman of the task force, Chief Superintendent of Police ADETAYO AKERELE said the operation was part of steps to curb the escalating challenges posed by roadside vendors and the rise in shanties at Mile 2-Oke on the highway.

AKERELE added that the illegal sale of petrol and diesel by the roadside is a highly dangerous practice that poses a significant risk of fire hazard and explosion, adding that the agency will ensure that such activities that endanger the lives of these illegal merchants and other road users are brought to a complete end.

He noted that the police will continue to monitor the area to prevent the resurgence of illegal activities and to ensure that the roads remain clear for safe and smooth transportation.
