Dr. Bello Muhammed Matawalle, Minister of State for Defence, has expressed gratitude to Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, for the donation of 100,000 hectares of land to the Nigerian Navy. This land, located in the Olokola Free Trade Zone along the Bight of Benin, will be developed into a Forward Operating Base (FOB), significantly enhancing the Navy's operational capacity in the region.
In a statement released by Henshaw Ogubike, Director of Information and Public Relations at the Ministry of Defence, Dr. Matawalle commended Governor Abiodun for his steadfast support of the Nigerian Armed Forces. He highlighted that the donation demonstrates a strong commitment to national security and development.
Dr. Matawalle underscored that this donation represents a strategic enhancement to the Nigerian Navy and a critical step towards strengthening the nation's security infrastructure in the South-West. He encouraged other state governments to follow Governor Abiodun's exemplary leadership by supporting the Armed Forces and contributing to national security efforts.
The Minister reaffirmed the Federal Government's commitment to collaborating with state governments and stakeholders to bolster the Armed Forces' ability to maintain peace and security throughout Nigeria.
