The Nigeria women's U-17 national team, known as the Flamingos, will soon start their preparation for the 2024 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup.
"The Flamingos will begin their training camp in Abuja this week, following the departure of the Falconets to Colombia. This early preparation is crucial to allow the coach sufficient time to get the team ready for the World Cup finals in October," he stated.
The 2024 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup will be the 8th edition of this biennial international youth football championship, featuring under-17 national teams from FIFA member associations. Hosted by the Dominican Republic, this will be the country's first FIFA tournament. This edition will also be the last to include 16 teams before the tournament expands to 24 teams in 2025, and the final one held every two years.
Nigeria is placed in Group A, alongside the host Dominican Republic, New Zealand, and Ecuador. The Flamingos will begin their campaign against New Zealand on October 16 at 7:00 PM, followed by a match against Ecuador three days later. They will conclude their group stage with a game against the Dominican Republic on October 22, 2024.
