Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, has announced the allocation of 100 hectares of land to the Nigerian Navy for the establishment of a Forward Operating Base (FOB). This announcement was made during a visit to the Chief of Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Emmanuel Ikechukwu Ogalla, in Abuja.
The new FOB will be located in the Ogun Waterside Local Government Area and will include a naval dockyard and base. Governor Abiodun emphasized that this facility will enhance security for major investments in the region, such as the proposed OK LNG project by NNPC Limited and the Olokola Deep Sea Port, as well as protect Nigeria's sovereignty at Tongeji Island.
He highlighted Ogun State's strong relationship with the national security forces and its reputation as one of the most secure states in Nigeria. In response, Vice Admiral Ogalla expressed appreciation for the governor’s support, acknowledging that the project, included in the 2024 budget, would commence soon.
