The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission has said it will closely monitor local government activities to ensure good governance, accountability, and transparency.
This follows the recent Supreme Court judgement granting financial autonomy to local governments.
A representative of the EFCC Chairman, FRIDAY EBELO disclosed this at a national dialogue organised by Agora Policy in Abuja.
The EFCC emphasised its commitment to scrutinising local government activities, stating, that deliberate effort must be put in place in order to bring the presence of governance to the people, and ensure that citizens feel the impact of governance in their daily lives.
The commission warned that business as usual would not be tolerated, indicating a renewed focus on ensuring local governments are held accountable for their actions.
