Player welfare has been elevated to a top priority for Kano Pillars, a team in the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL), following a commitment from the Kano State Government to settle all overdue match bonuses.

Honourable Mustapha Rabiu Kwankwaso, the State Commissioner for Youth and Sports, made this announcement yesterday during a meeting with the newly established management board of the club and team captain Rabiu Ali. Kwankwaso confirmed that the disbursement of these funds would begin soon, as the state government has approved the payments.

He emphasized the importance of prioritizing player welfare, acknowledging their vital role in the team’s success as they prepare for the 2024/25 top-flight season, which kicks off on August 31.

“Under my administration, Kano Pillars FC players will receive the support they deserve because they are the core of our success,” Kwankwaso stated.

In addition to settling the outstanding bonuses, Kwankwaso also pledged to review and increase the players’ travel allowances to ensure they receive adequate support.
