Under the leadership of Hon. Gbenga Elegbeleye, the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) has secured a partnership agreement with the Spanish La Liga club Sevilla CF. As part of this deal, NPFL President Gbenga Elegbeleye visited Sevilla CF, where he met with club President José María del Nido Carrasco and toured the Ramón Sánchez-Pizjuán Stadium.
“We are thrilled to collaborate with the Nigerian Professional League,” said José María del Nido Carrasco. “Sevilla FC believes this partnership will support the growth of NPFL clubs and foster the development of young players. This is a crucial step in our international expansion and will help enhance our brand's presence in Africa, particularly in Nigeria, where we’ve received significant support following the signing of Chidera Ejuke.”
Gbenga Elegbeleye added, “The NPFL consists of 20 clubs, each with its own youth academy. Sevilla FC’s storied history and track record of success in Spain and Europe make it an ideal partner. Their development strategy and youth programs are expected to greatly benefit Nigerian players. We anticipate that top talents from our Youth League will train here each season, gaining valuable experience. Additionally, our coaching staff will benefit from training agreements with Sevilla FC, creating a win-win situation for everyone involved in the NPFL.”
