OGSG CHALLENGES HOLGAs TO ENSURE EFFECTIVE MANAGEMENT OF LGAs


Following the conclusion of the Local Government Chairmen's tenure, the Ogun State Government has instructed all Heads of Local Government Administrations (HOLGAs) to continue fostering political and socio-economic stability at the grassroots level. They are to manage council affairs effectively to ensure seamless governance.

Mr. Tokunbo Talabi, Secretary to the State Government, conveyed this message during a meeting with HOLGAs in Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta. He emphasized that the administration under Prince Dapo Abiodun remains dedicated to grassroots development, focusing on infrastructure provision and executing projects that enhance the well-being and welfare of the people.

Talabi assured that the state government will persist in supporting local governments to boost the grassroots economy and urged HOLGAs to apply their administrative skills effectively in managing council affairs.

On behalf of the HOLGAs, Mr. Babatunde Owolabi, Director of Management Services at the Local Government Service Commission, expressed gratitude to Governor Dapo Abiodun for his confidence in their abilities. He acknowledged that fulfilling these responsibilities would require teamwork to implement government policies and programs at the local government areas, and pledged their commitment to meet expectations.

Attendees at the meeting included Mr. Kehinde Onasanya, Head of Service; Hon. Ganiyu Hazmat, Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy; Engr. Olanike Oguntona, Permanent Secretary of the Local Government Service Commission; and Dr. Olurotimi Akinlesi, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs.
