The Lagos State Government says that the Red Line rail operation will commence by the end of September 2024.
The Director of Rail Transport at the Lagos State Metropolitan Area Transport Authority, OLASUNKANMI OKUSAGA disclosed this during a media parley organized by the Lagos State Ministry of Transportation.
According to OKUSAGA, the train trial test run has commenced, and passenger operations will kick off fully by the end of September.
As part of efforts to record inter-state buses entering Lagos, the state Commissioner for Transportation, OLUWASEUN OSIYEMI says the government is digitalizing the inter-state transport sector to have accurate data of the number of buses coming in and out of the state for security and safety purposes.
The Special Adviser on Transportation to Governor BABAJIDE SANWO-OLU, SOLA GIWA also cleared the air about the ban on Danfo buses on the Lekki-Epe Expressway way.
He said only tricycles and the yellow minibuses also called “Korope” will be banned from the route and will henceforth operate only within the inner route.
GIWA also said that the Danfo bus operators who would like to operate along the Lekki-Epe corridor will have to register with the state transport management system, and their buses will be repainted to the state public transport colour for tracking in case of any contravention.
