As the 2024/2025 football season approaches, the Nigeria National League (NNL) has announced that 12 clubs from last season’s four conferences will be demoted to the third-tier National League One (NLO). At the same time, the NNL has confirmed the promotion of four clubs from these conferences to the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL).

The NNL wrapped up its season with the Super Eight Championships at Enugu's Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium, where Nasarawa United, Elkanemi Warriors, Beyond Limits, and Ikorodu City FC earned their spots in the NPFL.

In a letter to the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) dated July 13, 2024, the NNL provided a list of the clubs facing relegation: Stormers FC (Abeokuta), Ekiti United FC (Ado Ekiti), and 1472 FC (Lagos) from Conference A; FC One Rocket (Uyo), Giant Brillars FC (Enugu), and Trade Safe FC (Lagos) from Conference B; NAF FC (Abuja), ABS FC (Ilorin), and EFCC FC (Abuja) from Conference C; Mailantarki Care FC (Abuja), Jigawa Golden Stars (Dutse), and City FC (Abuja) from Conference D.

Additionally, the NNL will welcome twelve new teams to the 2024/2025 NNL season at the Annual General Meeting (AGM), including four clubs relegated from the NPFL and eight clubs promoted from the NLO.

  1. Chairman George Aluo confirmed these updates, noting that the NNL has formally notified the NFF of the 2023/2024 season’s results and is preparing for the AGM. He expressed optimism about the opportunity to enhance standards and competitiveness in Nigerian football.
