The National Council on Nutrition has approved new measures to combat malnutrition and food insecurity in Nigeria.
This followed the council’s meeting chaired by Vice President KASHIM SHETTIMA at the State House, Abuja.
Referencing the recently created Presidential Food Systems Coordinating Unit, the Vice President said the Tinubu administration recognizes the urgency of the food crises and is addressing its underlying causes to develop more resilient and sustainable food systems in Nigeria.
In his remarks, the Coordinating Minister of the Economy, WALE EDUN said a task force to accelerate cash transfer and the Ministry of Agriculture’s initiative to increase food availability and affordability further demonstrates these collaborative efforts.
The Minister of Budget and Economic Planning, ABUBAKAR BAGUDU, emphasized the administration’s commitment to prioritizing nutrition as a crucial component of national development.
