Tinubu Re-Elected As ECOWAS Chairman

President BOLA TINUBU has been re-elected as the chairman of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS), about one year after he took over the leadership of the regional bloc.

The Nigerian leader was re-elected as the ECOWAS chairman during the 65th Ordinary Session of the ECOWAS Authority of Heads of State and Government which took place at the Presidential Villa in Abuja capital.

In his acceptance speech, President TINUBU said he will continue to work with other elements within the ECOWAS to sustain the democratic values and structures of the community.

President TINUBU also announced the President of Senegal, BASSIROU FAYE, as Special Envoy of the ECOWAS Commission to mediate with the leaders of Mali, Burkina Faso and Niger who announced their exit from the community earlier in the year.
