The Lagos State Government has said it will enhance the potential of the waterways to boost water tourism and the economy.
The Commissioner for Tourism, Arts and Culture, TOKE BENSON-AWOYINKA, said this during the ‘Fuji Fusion Lori Omi’ event held at MV Adimu Orisha barge by Lagos Ferry Services.
In a statement, she said the state government is committed to enhancing water tourism in Lagos to boost the local economy, create employment opportunities, and attract both domestic and international tourists.
The Managing Director of LAGFERRY, LADI BALOGUN noted that Governor BABAJIDE SANWO-OLU had created an enabling environment for stakeholders to explore various opportunities within the state’s blue economy.
He added that the agency would focus on improving the passengers’ experience by ensuring safety, comfort, and efficiency on its boats.
Also, the General Manager, Lagos State Waterways Authority, DAMILOLA EMMANUEL, assured Lagosians of safety on the waterways.
