An aircraft carrying Malawi's Vice-President, SAULOS CHILIMA and nine others has gone missing.

The Malawi Defence Force aircraft "went off the radar" after it left the capital, Lilongwe, yesterday morning.

President LAZARUS CHAKWERA has ordered a search and rescue operation to locate the whereabouts of the aircraft.

The President has also cancelled a planned visit to the Bahamas.
