The Head coach of the Super Eagles, FINIDI GEORGE says his immediate task and priority is to qualify the nation for the 2026 World Cup slated for Canada, Mexico and the United States.
GEORGE stated this at his unveiling as the new head coach of the Super Eagles by the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), at the Moshood Abiola National Stadium in Abuja.
The coach warned that going forward; players will be invited to the Super Eagles based on regular playing time in their clubs and commitment to the national team.
He also dismissed insinuations about having a rift with some players in the Super Eagles, stressing that the relationship with the players was ‘perfect’ and professional.
Nigeria currently finds itself in third place in their qualifying group, with just two points from as many games, while South Africa sits second with three points.
The three-time African champions will host South Africa in Uyo on June 7, before travelling to Abidjan to face bottom-team Benin three days later.
