Rivers youths under the aegis of Ogoni Youth Federation (OYF), have threatened to drag the contractor handling the rehabilitation of the Ogoni axis of the East-West Road and the Federal Government to the International Criminal Court (ICC).

They said this is over their negligence in ensuring the safety measures that would have averted the tragic petroleum tanker explosion. 

The youths have accused the contractor handling the reconstruction of the road project of failing to create an alternative route for motorists, considering the heavy traffic on the road daily.

The youths in a statement signed by their President-General, Dr LEGBORSI YAMAABANA added that the Federal Government’s failure to enforce proper safety protocols contributed to the tragedy that occurred on Friday night.

The youths demanded that the contractor and the Federal government immediately take responsibility for their negligence and begin compensating the families of the victims.
