LP kicks as NLC announces stakeholder’s meeting

The JULIUS ABURE-led National Working Committee (NWC) of the Labour Party (LP), has dismissed a proposed Labour Party stakeholders meeting organized by the Political Commission of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC).

National Publicity Secretary of the Labour Party, OBIORA IFOH, in response to a trending letter of invitation to the event scheduled to be held today described organizers of the proposed meeting as “drama boys” and “attention seekers.”

According to him, this meeting being organized by some personalities in the NLC is illegal as it is not supported by any law in the land and therefore its outcome, a nullity.

IFOH therefore called on all genuine members of the Labour Party to disregard and shun the meeting.

Meanwhile, the leadership of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) has vowed not to rest until it unseats JULIUS ABURE as national chairman of the Labour Party.

Disclosing this in an interview with newsmen, the NLC spokesman, BENSON UPAH, said that despite the ‘illegal’ national convention that returned ABURE to office, the union would never confer legitimacy or give recognition to his leadership.

He said the position of the NLC on the matter is clear and has not changed.

The development is coming at a time when a group of retired workers under the aegis of Lagos Assembly of Labour Veterans and Trade Unionists also called for the resignation of the embattled national chairman of the Labour Party and the NLC President, JOE AJAERO, over their contentious leadership struggle.
