The House of Representatives Committee on Defence has commended the military on its efforts in the fight against insurgency and other security challenges in the country.
The Chairman, House Committee on Defence, Honourable BABAJIMI BENSON gave the commendation when he led members of the committee on an oversight visit to the Defence Headquarters in Abuja.
Hon. BENSON urged the military to redouble its efforts and re-strategise to be able to fully eliminate the undesirable elements terrorising Nigerians.
He said, as representatives of the people, members of the lawmakers could tell authoritatively that Nigerians were yearning for results and an end to the myriad of security challenges in the country.
According to him, the House realises that these results can only be achieved at a cost, and through well-equipped, well-trained, well-resourced, and adequately motivated Armed Forces.
In his response, the Chief of Defence Staff, General CHRISTOPHER MUSA, said the military was doing everything possible to address the present security challenges in the country.
General MUSA said that the present security situation was a phase in the life of the country, which would soon become a thing of the past.
