The Lagos State Government has organised a workshop for Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) owners operating in the state on how to package their products for export to the United States of America.
The training focused on warehousing, dispatching, export licensing, accessing profitability software windows, finding buyers, opening bank accounts, and filing trademarks, among others.
The Commissioner for Commerce, Cooperative, Trade, and Investment, FOLASHADE AMBROSE-MEDEBEM, said the state had a mandate to develop local production capacity to meet export needs through the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA).
According to her, Lagos state was also working on steps to spur exporters to benefit from the AfCFTA agreement, among other platforms for export.
The commerce commissioner further emphasised that the MSMEs should be deliberate in contributing to the growth of the country’s several agro- and mineral-based commodities, with special attention to their value chain potential.
