The House of Representatives has asked the Council of Legal Education to suspend the increment in fees of the Nigerian Law School.
The lawmakers, through a motion sponsored by four members, said the country is currently facing a 27.33 per cent inflation rate, which is projected to rise to 30.00 per cent by December 2023.
The House was concerned that in exercising its functions, the Council of Legal Education has approved a 60 per cent increase in Nigerian Law School fees from 296,000 to 476,000 naira for the 2023/2024 Bar Part II academic session.
The House further mandated the Committee on Tertiary Education and Services to explore solutions to the issue at hand and report back within two weeks for further legislative action.
