The Lagos State government has declared zero tolerance for illegal extortion of residents, especially motorists, by miscreants parading themselves as enforcement officers.
Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Transportation, OLAWALE MUSA gave this warning while addressing newsmen after the arrest of 11 fake officers who daily extort money from unsuspecting motorists at Ibeju-Lekki junction and Akodo area of the state.
After the enforcement exercise, he declared that the Governor BABAJIDE SANWO-OLU administration would not fold its arms and allow some corrupt elements to continue to bring hardship to Lagos residents, especially during this period of economic challenges in the country.
He said that those who were arrested would be charged to court to explain themselves, warning others who were doing the same things to desist.
MUSA reiterated that it was illegal for any local council area to deploy people on the roads, as only the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority can carry out such operations.
