The Small and Medium Enterprises Development Agency of Nigeria (SMEDAN) has said it has created 15,000 jobs for beneficiaries of its training programs and capital financing programmes across 30 states in 100 days.
SMEDAN Director General, CHARLES ODII who disclosed this in a statement said the agency also facilitated the provision of over 7 billion naira in funding for Small and Medium Enterprises across the federation.
According to the statement, SMEDAN has injected 1 billion naira into Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) under a matching fund agreement with the Anambra and Enugu State governments to bolster the growth of small enterprises.
It also said economic activities at the grassroots level were revitalised with a cash injection of 50,000 naira into nano businesses, creating jobs with the condition that they hire one more person.
Continuing its data-driven approach to impact, the statement added that the agency is set to commence a nationwide small business census to create a credible and comprehensive database of SMEs in the country and enhance the quality of its interventions.
