The Federal Executive Council (FEC) has ordered that a thorough investigation be carried out into an explosion that rocked Ibadan, Oyo State, two nights ago.

The Council gave the directive at its first meeting in the year 2024 chaired by President BOLA TINUBU.

Briefing State House correspondents shortly after the meeting, the Minister of Defence, MUHAMMAD BADARU, said FEC also set up a committee to investigate the issues of environmental degradation and deforestation.

He noted that the activities of illegal miners pose a huge challenge to Nigeria, hence the committee to come up with a roadmap for tackling the menace.

According to BADARU, the service chiefs, and the ministers of defence among others will constitute the committee.
