The Chief Whip of the Senate, MOHAMMED ALI NDUME has commended President BOLA TINUBU for immediately suspending the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, Dr BETTA EDU, over an alleged diversion of funds.
Senator NDUME who spoke to newsmen over the phone from Saudi Arabia, insisted that the alleged fraud committed by the suspended minister may not be isolated.
He said that for President TINUBU to succeed and deliver on his Renewed Hope Agenda, some tough decisions must be taken, and some elements curtailed within the administration.
He said the prompt suspension of EDU was a confirmation that President TINUBU is serious about tackling corruption and eliminating waste within the system.
Senator NDUME said the action would restore confidence in President TINUBU’s administration and Nigerians would begin to take his administration seriously.
The Borno South senator also called on President TINUBU to as a matter of urgency check the excesses of those he described as an ‘emerging political cartel,’ and warned that it may be worse than a cabal if unchecked.
He further cautioned that if left unchecked, the emerging political cartel may destabilise the administration of President TINUBU.
