The Federal Ministry of Women Affairs and the United Nations Children's Fund, (UNICEF), have inaugurated a Child Protection and Research Centre for the collation of information on child welfare in Nigeria.
Minister of Women Affairs, UJU KENNEDY-OHANENYE, at an official unveiling of the Centre in Abuja said it is a repository for information on all cases pertaining to children in the country.
The minister explained that cases of abuse, Sexual and Gender-Based Violence and other violations against children will be recorded in the centre to assist in research that can lead to durable solutions.
UNICEF Deputy Country Representative, ROWNAK KHAN, said the research centre is a timely intervention to understand points of entry in terms of support for children.
