The Lagos State government has dislodged some illegal occupants in Ijegun while it also announced plans to demolish shanties in the area.
The Commissioner for Environment and Water Resources, TOKUNBO WAHAB in a statement this is in continuation of the government’s sanitisation of school environments across the state.
WAHAB said the operation followed the expiration of served statutory notices on clear breaches of the provision of the Lagos State Environmental Management Planning law as it concerns illegal structures by the perimeter fence/roadside and erecting structures on the drainage alignment.
According to him, the enforcement has become necessary following an observed widespread trend that is not only worrisome but very unacceptable in the school environment in Lagos state which must be tackled hastily.
