Governor HOPE UZODIMMA of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has been declared the winner of the Saturday, November 11, 2023, governorship election in Imo State, securing a second term in office.
The announcement was made by the state Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) Returning Officer, Professor ABAYOMI FASHINA after over eight hours of collation of local government results.
He defeated his closest rivals, SAMUEL ANYANWU of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and NNEJI ACHONU of the Labour Party (LP) and 15 other opponents, by a significant margin in all 27 local government areas in the state.
Governor UZODIMMA secured 540,308 votes, defeating Anyanwu with 71,503 votes and ACHONU, who garnered 64,081 votes.
