The Ogun State Governor, DAPO ABIODUN, has blamed the water released from the Republic of Cameroon for the flooding of the Isheri community in the Ifo Local Government Area of the state.
Governor ABIODUN stated this when he received the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, Dr BETTA EDU, who paid him a courtesy visit in his office at Oke-Mosan Abeokuta.
The Governor described this year’s flooding in the Isheri axis as the worst in recent times, saying it has affected the commercial and social life of the people as residents now take refuge in camps of various religious bodies across the State.
He noted that the immediate concern of his administration was to look at the remote causes and the interventions that could be deployed to bring relief to the residents.
Governor ABIODUN equally advocated for dredging and channelising the Ogun River, saying that this would go a long way in curbing the perennial flooding of Isheri and its environs.
