The Lagos State Command of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has called on stakeholders in the transportation sector to make a law that would disallow the sale of alcohol and drugs in motor parks to reduce road fatalities.
Speaking at the 2023 Ember Months Road Safety Campaign flag-off at the Costain Unit Command, the FRSC Sector Commander, BABATUNDE FARINLOYE, said the sale of alcoholic beverages in Nigeria is becoming a social norm and its acceptability is causing problems on roads.
FARINLOYE emphasised that if the sellers of these drugs can be pushed out of the motor parks, crashes and fatalities on the roads will be reduced.
The FRSC boss further stated that to have safer roads these ember months, road users must avoid dangerous driving, speeding, use of alcohol and phone while driving, overloading, wrongful overtaking, and other life-threatening infractions.
