The Lagos State Government has promised to meet the demands of pensioners in the state as it relates to their welfare.
The Commissioner for Establishments and Training, AFOLABI AYANTAYO, assured the pensioners who gathered at Alausa, to demonstrate against the non-implementation of their demands, that the government was doing everything possible to meet their demands.
The pensioners are demanding strict compliance with the constitutional provisions that pension should be increased every five years or whenever the salaries of workers are increased, whichever comes earlier.
They want a consequential adjustment on pension following the consequential adjustment done in 2019; a living minimum wage of 50,000 naira for pensioners in Lagos State as well as payment of backlog of gratuities and pension arrears, among others.
ADETAYO, who stressed that Governor BABAJIDE SANWO-OLU was passionate about the welfare of pensioners in the state, assured them that their demands would be forwarded to the governor for consideration and approval as soon as he is back from his trip abroad.
