The Department of State Services (DSS) has released a former chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) ABDULRASHEED BAWA after over 100 days in custody.
This is according to a statement by the secret police, Director of Public Relations and Strategic Communications, PETER AFUNANYA.
His freedom came months after President BOLA TINUBU suspended him as the chairman of the anti-graft agency.
Meanwhile, ABDULRASHEED BAWA has sued the DSS for his continued detention without trial since June 14, 2023.
In the suit filed at the Lagos Division of the Federal High Court for the Enforcement of Fundamental Rights, BAWA sought an order of the court to declare his detention without trial as illegal.
He also said that his continued detention without arraignment or criminal prosecution is a flagrant abuse and violation of his fundamental rights to freedom, liberty, and personal dignity.
