The Ogun State government has called on factories to ensure that their workers are provided with proper kits, including protective goggles, in order to safeguard their eyesight.
The Commissioner of Health, Dr TOMI COKER, said this during a press conference in commemoration of World Sight Day 2023.
Dr COKER said the government’s finding had shown that blindness was more predominant among factory workers in the state.
According to her, the proportion of blind people among the factory workers in Ogun State is far higher, than in the general population.
The commissioner also disclosed that the government had distributed 250 free eyeglasses to the artisans at the Mechanic Village, Abeokuta.
