The Lagos Metropolitan Area Transport Authority (LAMATA) has begun the use of Yoruba language in train announcements.
This was after the Lagos State House of Assembly summoned LAMATA to appear before it over its failure to use the Yoruba language in train announcements.
The House noted that since the year 2017 when the bill on compulsory teaching of Yoruba in schools was passed in Lagos, the state had made conscious efforts to encourage the use of the language in public places.
The Lagos House of Assembly therefore insisted that LAMATA must add Yoruba to the languages it uses for announcements and instructions in its train services.
