A governorship aspirant in the forthcoming Edo State governorship election, Pastor Azemhe Azena, has bagged the Prestigious Niger Delta Peace Ambassador award.
The Peace Ambassador was conferred on the Senior Pastor of the Omega Fire Ministries by Edo Legacy Foundation at an event in Benin City.
Pastor Azemhe Azena dedicated the awarded to late president, Musa Yar’Adua and his Vice, Goodluck Jonathan for promoting peace in the Niger Delta through the amnesty programme.
According to him, the award was a call for him to do more in his philanthropic endeavour and sustain the promotion of peace across the country.
He said: “The joy of this award is that, it makes me to remember a man called President Musa Yar’Adua, the man who in 2009 implemented the policy of Amnesty in the Niger Delta, which brought about the peace we are enjoying in the region.
“I want to therefore dedicate my award to him, because he paid the prize for peace to be restored to the Niger Delta. And the Vice President of then who also became our president later – President Goodluck Jonathan, and every other promoter of peace in the Niger Delta. I am optimistic that by the grace of God permanent peace will be restored to Niger Delta region.”
According to him, being a philanthropist and promoter of peace, the award was a call for him to doing more, adding: “This will spur me to do more. To whom much is given, much is expected.”
He continued: “Edo people should expect more philanthropic works from me because it is my nature to do such. When God gives me anything, I can’t keep it to myself, I give it to those in need. We came to this world with nothing, we will return nothing.
“Whenever you see me happy, it is not because I have much money in the bank, it is when I see people who are happy for what God has used me to do in their lives.”
The recognition is the latest in the over 70 awards Pastor Azemhe Azena has received for his commitment to humanity.
