President BOLA TINUBU is said to have directed the Federal Airport Authority of Nigeria, FAAN, to rename some of federal airports after notable Nigerians.

This was contained in a memo directed to all Head of Operations of FAAN by the Federal Ministry of Aviation dated June 1st, 2023.

The memo was signed by the Director of Airport Operations, JOKE OLATUNJI.

Port Harcourt Airport will be renamed after late OBAFEMI AWOLOWO, while Maiduguri Airport will be renamed after the immediate past President, MUHAMMADU BUHARI.

Nasarawa Airport will be named after USMAN DANFODIO, while Ilorin Airport will be named after TUNDE IDIAGBON.

Also, Benin Airport will be renamed after the late Oba of Benin, OBA AKENZUA II, Ebonyi Airport will be named after the late Senate President CHUBA OKADIGBO, and Ibadan Airport after the late Premier of the old Western Region, LADOKE AKINTOLA.
