The member-elect for Esan North East Constituency II, Honourable Maria Edeko has urged widows and women in Edo state to take advantage of existing laws enacted by the state government that safeguard them.
Honourable Maria Edeko made the call when she featured on Super FM flagship programme, “Today’s Woman”.
She explained that the present administration has put in place the Edo State Violence Against Persons' Prohibition Law to address the issues of abuse, violation of human rights, and promote equity among the genders.
Honorable Edeko advised widows seeking redress to visit the Ministry of Social Development and Gender issues or the Vivian Centre.
