The Edo State Independent Electoral Commission (EDSIEC) says it monitored the primaries of the 11 political parties which had indicated interest to participate in the 2023 local government elections scheduled for the 2nd of September, 2023.

Chairman of the commission, retired Justice James Oyomire told journalists that the primaries were part of activities leading up to the conduct of the local government elections.

He explained that the electoral body has been receiving completed forms from the political parties ahead of the June 15 deadline for submission of the lists of candidates.
