Edo State Labour Party Suspends Murphy Paul Imasuen, others for Anti-party Activities

The Edo State Chapter of the Labour Party has suspended indefinitely Murphy Paul Imasuen, its candidate for Orhionmwon/ Uhunmwode federal constituency in the 2023 General Elections.

Also suspended were Ikuoyemwen Ehiwe, Jegede Idemudia and Captain Oronsaye Augustine.

The party's resolution was jointly signed by the State Chairman, State secretary, Deputy state chairman, State publicity Secretary, Chairmen of Uhunmwode and Orhionmwon LGAs, amongst others.

The Chairman, Kelly Ogbaloi said the State Working Committee took the decision following acts of gross insubordination, anti-party activities, amongst others.

“The state exco met to review its activities and take reports from the state working committee (SWC) on the day to day running of our great party and immediately before it was the continued intransigence of Mr. Murphy Paul Imasuen and his collaborators, against the party he called his own, the exhibition of alien rascality, dangerous exhumation, that has crystalized him as a non party man, unyielding attitude to reasonable persuasions, gross insubordination to legally constituted authority of the party, reckless publications of party policy issues, without due authorization and deep participation in the recent infringement on the party, created unintelligently by Apapa Lamidi, a tragic power seeker of a mean nature, all these inspite of unparallel resilience deployed by the party, especially at the state level, exco became considerably constrained to co-inhibit further with these characters in the same confines, and resolved therefore that Mr. Paul Murphy Imasuen is suspended indefinitely from Labour Party.

The State Working Committee also asked the party’s hierarchy to ignore an alleged outrageous social character, Blessing Agho who it noted was an accomplice of Murphy Imasuen.

Ogbaloi told journalists in Benin City, that "the only option left for the state party leadership was to suspend Mr Murphy pending the ratification of the decision for final expulsion from the party.

“The state EXCO has taken the decision for Murphy’s immediate suspension from our party for his abominable intransigence and outright desecration of our great party’s constitution.

“Apart from hobnobbing with Lamidi Apapa’s faction and other renegade elements in the party, Murphy has set up parallel state EXCO in the state with the help of his sponsors in Abuja and we are not going to fold our hands and allow such banal insubordination to take foothold in our party.

“We have laboured to build this party over the last 24 years in the state, the likes of Murphy only saw the need to use the platform to burnish their selfish and primitive ambitions the moment Mr Peter Obi joined the party.

“Today, Murphy and his cohorts who pretended to love Mr Peter Obi and horridly joined the Labour Party are the same felons who are asking the tribunal handling Mr Peter Obi and the Labour Party’s case in Abuja to stop the trial of the stolen mandate”, Comrade Ogbaloi said.
