The Presidency has explained that President Muhammadu Buhari gave the nod for last-minute funds a few days away to handover to the administration of Bola Tinubu because the government needs funds to clear debts.
The Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina stated this while assessing the performance of Buhari’s eight-year tenure in office.
The President had earlier written to the Senate, seeking approval for a request to pay the judgement debt in the sum of 566 million, 754 thousand, 584 dollars, 98,526 pounds and 226 billion naira.
The monies were owed by the Federal Government through the issuance of promissory notes.
