A socio-political group, Esan New Era (ENE), has urged major political parties in Edo State to zone their 2024 governorship tickets to Edo Central in the overall well being and development of the state.

It also called on the state governor, Godwin Obaseki, to back the call as part of efforts to ensure equity, fairness and justice for peaceful co-existence in the state.

Addressing journalists in Benin City during a maiden press briefing, the group’s General Secretary, Pastor Christopher Onoye and Executive Organizing Secretary, Valentine Uduebor, appealed to major political parties to promote Esan candidacy.

He said the demand for Edo Central to produce the next governor of the state is borne of the desire to ensure fairness, justice and, particularly, rotation of power within the three senatorial districts of the state.
