For a second day running, no fewer than 28 communities in the Sapele Road axis of Benin City returned to the streets to protest the failure of the federal and the Edo state government to fix the deplorable Benin-Sapele Road.
The residents, who expressed sadness that their governments now pay lip services to their plight, said the poor state of the road was taking a toll on their lives and businesses.
The Protests comes about eight months after the Edo state government promised to provide palliative measures to address the concerns of the protesters.
The Federal controller of works in Edo State, Engineer Babatunde Hassan however assured that the government will fix the road through the NNPC Tax Credit Scheme.
