The National Peace Committee has called for calm as 28 states go to the polls to elect their governors and legislators on Saturday.

The organization expressed worry over what it described “open threats of intimidation and violence by certain elements within the society.”

The Chairman of the NPC and former Head of State, retired General Abdulsalami Abubakar, expressed the concern in a statement issued in Abuja.
