Contrary to the claim by Edo State Government of the payment of all outstanding salaries of staff, lecturers at Ambrose Alli University, Ekpoma, have insisted that they are still being owed between eight and fourteen months arrears.
In a joint statement by the institution's chairman and acting secretary of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), Dr. Cyril Onogbosele and Dr. William Odion, they said that the claim by the state government is “very far from the truth”.
The statement noted that the present reality is a "continuation of selective payment of salary to some staff by the university administration, and in this case, the payment of only February 2023 salaries.
They queried the authorities for embarking on what they said is an unholy treatment of some staff when they have not been convicted of any misconduct or violation of the University's Rules and Regulations.
